Who We're Celebrating Now: Bjarke Ingels

An Optimistic Dose of Architecture

File this one under #DanishDesign: “Architecture, at its best, is the power to make the world a little bit more like our dreams.” 🙌🏼 Our architectural spirit animal is most definitely @BjarkeIngels, his architecture group, @big_builds, designs "buildings that defy convention while incorporating sustainable development principles and bold sociological concepts."

👀From glass-box retail theater (@galerieslafayettechampselysees), 📚 education (our favorite concept by WeWork, @wegrow) and signature landmarks like the @maritimemuseumdenmark (which made us first fall for Ingels work back in 2013) to iconic flagships (hello @legohouse Denmark & Google’s Cali HQ), the designs are unexpected, fluid and always incorporate a humanistic touch that encourages play and provides a sense of "home.”

🚦Ingels inspires a new way of impacting the built environment, and also how we interact with our surroundings, through an optimistic POV. The progressive designs by @big_builds are chock full of shape, color and intrigue - providing architecture that imprints on our memory.

[Pictured left] Check out the latest @kistefos sculpture park, just north of Oslo - it’s another stunning creation with a fantastic array of contemporary artwork throughout the grounds.
